Glamorous Aide to S.F. Mayor Moves On to More Lucrative City Job

Mayor Willie Brown's personal scheduling secretary, Esther Hwang, who moonlights as a model, actress and Internet pinup girl, has moved on to a new $46,000-a-year job at the the Department of Public Works.
That's a $5,000 raise.
Her new duties: alerting businesses and homeowners about upcoming street tear-ups.

"We're very happy to have her at DPW,'' department spokesman Alex Mamak told us. "She wanted to do more community outreach."

Well, if there is anything Hwang is good at, it's community outreach.

As you may recall, the young UC grad made quite a splash on the Internet last year with a personal Web site featuring photos (at $10 to $15 a pop) of her ever-curvy self in hot bikinis and even hotter lingerie.

After we wrote about the site, it was flooded with more than 1.5 million hits.

The site was so popular that it had to be shut down at times because of the overload.

Meanwhile, Hwang quietly toiled on for the mayor, accompanying him on meet-and-greets with foreign dignitaries and even joining his entourage on the recent sister-city trip to China.

Soon she may be knocking at your door, telling you the jackhammers are on their way.

We had hoped to reach Hwang ourselves for a comment on her new job. Unfortunately, DPW spokesman Mamak tells us she's out for a couple of days -- having eye surgery.
