The mayor of San Francisco, Willie Brown, has discovered why more and more people are queuing up to see him: his diary secretary moonlights as an Internet lingerie model.

Esther Hwang, 23, a Berkeley graduate and former Miss Asian America, can be seen in microscopic underwear on her own web site, which has received nearly 2m hits.

"With her long shiny black hair framing an unforgettable face with mesmerizing cat eyes, she is always armed with a dangerously contagious smile," says the accompanying text.

Brown is more interested in her talent for turning away troublemakers, including one woman who was making a life- size doll of him. "She asked me if I had ever seen inside the mayor's pants," Hwang said. "She wanted to know if the doll was anatomically correct. It was creepy."
