Talk of S.F.City Hall,
Willie Brown's secretary promotes
herself with racy photos on Internet
by Philip Matier, Andrew Ross
When it comes to women, San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown loves to surround himself with beauty -- right down to his personal office staff. Rumor has it that one staffer landed her job after sending the ever-dapper mayor a photo of herself as homecoming queen.
Now comes Esther Hwang, who was hired four months ago to be Brown's scheduling secretary.
We don't know whether she used a homecoming shot in her resume, but if her personal Web page is any indication -- she has more than enough material to choose from.
The recently posted page, which the young beauty queen created to promote her outside acting and modeling career, is the talk of City Hall this week.
And with good reason.
Hwang, a former cheerleader, former Miss Asian America and ``Pinnacle Fantasy Spokesmodel,'' reveals plenty of her assets -- including several full-color poses in garters, bikinis and casual wear.
The mayor's $40,951-a-year ``special assistant'' is described in her Web bio as ``personable, friendly, voluptuous, daring, and sexy,'' and ``without doubt one of the hottest and fastest-rising Asian talents today.''
She's even got a role as an ``enchanting mermaid seductress'' in an upcoming film, ``Mermaid Island.''
But can she type?
She should be able to -- after all, she's a graduate of UC Berkeley.
And judging from her bio, she thinks every bit as big as her boss, the mayor.
``Her future goals besides pursuing her immediate modeling/acting career,'' according to her bio, ``are to attend law school and graduate school, teach literature, write books, get married `to a wonderful man,' have a family, be a champion dog breeder, and ultimately help others `through my love for God.' ''
The mayor's reaction to Hwang's extracurricular Web site has been one of amusement.
Upon hearing of the Web site, the mayor (after he stopped chuckling) reportedly had the photos printed up.
As for official react, mayoral spokeswoman Kandace Bender said, ``Hey, it's the 21st Century . . . And that's her portfolio. We all have interests after our work hours.''
